We hope this letter finds you enjoying the new year of 2016. It sure has been a busy last couple of months here in Bolivia! And we are looking forward to things planned for this new year.
We had a wonderful time with our visitor in November. We used him a lot too. He helped teach classes on teaching Sunday School, soul winning and on music, specifically on leading music in the church. We did this in the cities of La Paz, Oruro (photo above) and in Santa Cruz. We had people come from over 4 hours away to be in these classes. In all it was about 30 hours of teaching and interpreting! It made for a long week but was well worth the effort to train some nationals to be leaders.
While our visitor was here, Jessica started having
contractions. The problem was, she was still about 3 months early. The doctor has since put her on a mostly rest duty. She is now doing ok and we have made it to a safe time for the baby to be born. We are expecting him anytime this month. Our only problem at this moment is that, due to the altitude, the placenta is aging too quickly so they may have to do something early. Please continue to pray for Jessica during this time. It has been VERY difficult for her.
We had a great CHRISTmas! We had some special times of evangelism as we stood outside the church and passed out over 400 cups of hot chocolate and invitations. Through this and our other Christmas events, we have finally been able to reach one of our neighbors. We haven't seen him saved yet, but he seems to have a great interest. Please pray for Maricio and his 2 children.
In the last few days, we have come up on a few problems in another local church that was started by another missionary. This missionary has left due to health reasons, therefore is unable to help the church. I am afraid that without assistance, this church may split so I have offered to step in and help. They seem to want my help but we are just starting in this so we will see where it goes. Please pray that God will allow me to guide this church on the right path. We are not leaving the Fanning’s work in order to do this. We had offered to help there till they return. So we will be working in both churches for a little while.
We do have one financial request we would like to make. I preached a couple weeks ago on how to act during a trial, from the life of Elijah. It seems that God has put us to the test on that… Since then, we have had 3 broken pipes in our home, a broken washing machine and I ran over something to where I had to replace ALL 4 tires on my truck. These were a lot of unexpected expensive things right at Christmas and with the new baby being born. We had to pull some finances from our savings as we didn't have this at the time. Would you help us pray about these expenses? We know God is able to provide for them.
Thank you again for all your prayers and support in the last year. Sometimes people look at missionaries as some great hero, but we know we couldn't do our work here, without people like you. You are greatly appreciated!!!
