Our first Thanksgiving and Christmas as missionaries here in Bolivia was very different. It was our first time being away from our families for these holidays and I have to admit, it was very hard. Despite the challenges though, we tried to make it into a grand adventure and were successful in enjoying the holidays and making it special in our own way.
So many people remember those serving in the military and their families around Christmas time. But most people never think to remember their missionaries. Like those serving their country there are countless missionaries all over the world serving the Lord Jesus. They are also far away from family members and the comforts and traditions that we all hold so dear during this time of year.
For me, snow is something I have been missing! The seasons are the opposite here in South America so our Christmas was very warm. It was very strange singing Christmas carols about snow and cold when we are more concerned about sun burn here. It was also difficult to find
We are praising the Lord for His blessings!
As many of you know, for several years, the Lord has allowed me to help and work for my home church ministry and radio station. One of the blessings I had while there, was to help the publishing department make specialized John and Romans for missionaries and churches. While we are in Bolivia, I have still been able to help, but I am not able to do anywhere near what I did while in the states.
This week, Bro Brian Coates came to visit and bring us some supplies we needed. As part of this trip, He and ABMI Publishing are revolutionizing the way we do
Our first two months here in Bolivia have been rather challenging, however, God has been faithful! He has seen us through and helped us to prevail over many attacks from the devil. We have learned a lot in a short time and although we know there is still a lot to learn and a long way to go, we are rejoicing in the faithfulness and goodness of our Savior.
We found a house to rent and have moved in. It is very nice being able to unpack and hang our own pictures. The Lord blessed us with a home in a safe neighborhood, for which we are very thankful. Our new home has also provided refuge for a missionary who is temporarily staying with us and for another missionary family who lost their home and needed a place to store some things while they are on furlough. God’s timing is always perfect! He knew the needs we would all have and provided.
We have also begun our language school and it seems to be going really well so far. It is a challenge but we are learning and are praying that we remember what we learn and are able to apply it soon to our daily lives. We have already seen an improvement.
Everything is going well with Jessica and the pregnancy. We have been able to see the hospital where our daughter will be born and are encouraged and excited about all that is in the future. Please continue to pray that all goes well for the pregnancy. We have had some doctors show concern about the affects of the altitude, however, after much prayer and a few different opinions from other doctors; we feel the Lord still wants us to stay. We know that our God is bigger than any problem that may arise and in His will we are safer here than anywhere else in the world.
Also pray about a situation that has come up regarding our paperwork. There have been some inconsistencies with the paperwork done by
