We made it! We arrived in Bolivia at 3:00 am on Wednesday morning the 28th. So far everything is going well and we are getting settled in. Jessica has already seen a doctor here to get established and everything is going well with the pregnancy. We also have some wonderful news. We found out the day before we left that we are having a girl!! The doctor here in La Paz also confirmed the gender. We are very excited about this wonderful news and are excited about beginning preparations for our new arrival. Please pray that everything continues to go well for Jessica and the baby as they adjust to the altitude.
We have been looking at homes to rent while we are staying here in La Paz for language school. So far we haven’t found
As we came, we brought 5 bags, 2 carry ons and a pillow each. A total of 12 bags. The airlines seemed real confused by this. So I just knew we would not make it with all of our bags. However, we did, and so far we have not found anything broken in them.
Secondly, customs in Bolivia, seems to love picking on the Americans and searching our bags, especially when we have a lot of them. I was kind of nervous about this because we had a water filter that a local church had bought for us. It was so large, it would not fit in one suitcase so we had to take it apart and put it in about 5 or 6 bags. Customs is normally real picky and likes to make you pay extra for anything of value. I have been told, they can charge you full price of the object to get it in country. That filter was worth over $1,000. But praise The Lord,
As most of you know by now, we are making the final preparations for our departure to Bolivia. We are excited and nervous all at the same time. We are looking forward to what God has in store, yet nervous about the new things ahead.
We would ask that you keep us in your prayers in the next couple of weeks. There are a lot of things to get finished and, seemingly, not a lot of time to complete the tasks at hand.
