August 2024 Update

A lot has been happening recently in our lives and ministry. While many might assume that a missionary’s furlough is a time for rest and relaxation, the reality is far from it. When we are not traveling and updating churches on the ministry here in the States, we are deeply involved in communicating with and assisting our churches back home. Despite the whirlwind of activities, it is clear that God has been orchestrating blessings and opportunities. It is challenging to fit everything into this one letter.

We continue to support our churches in their evangelistic outreaches, even during our absence. In July, we organized a teacher recognition event at local schools, where each teacher received a small gift and a certificate of appreciation from the church. Although colder than usual temperatures in Bolivia extended the winter break, delaying the event, it has already made a significant impact. One school has even invited the pastor to present the gospel during their morning assembly. The pastor hopes that this could become an on-going arrangement. Such an opportunity could greatly enhance our efforts to spread the gospel and raise awareness about our church.

We also have two exciting updates since our last letter. First, we mentioned a need for Bible college training, with 14 nationals desiring this support. Thanks to a generous gift, we have now acquired the specific curriculum we had in mind—what a blessing! Second, we believe our first church has found its new pastor.  This man has been trained by a fellow missionary and was initially planning to start a new church in our area. Although it is not official yet, everything looks positive, and this potential change would significantly ease our burden for them. Please continue to keep this situation in your prayers.

July was also a time of celebration. Our family was blessed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our home church pastor's full-time ministry. Their dedication has influenced our ministry in such a profound way. It was a special occasion for our family since we seldom get to participate in such events while in Bolivia.  Also, Jessica and I celebrated 22 years of marriage. I am blessed to have such a wonderful godly wife.  She has faithfully stood by my side in life and in ministry and has been an example to our children and to other wives.

Lastly, we are thrilled to report progress on our vehicle fund, now over 60% of our goal. Several churches have shown interest in supporting this need, and we continue to trust in the Lord's provision.

As you can see, there is a lot going on both stateside and in Bolivia.  You have a part of this through your prayers and support.  Thank you for your faithfulness.
